Last Sunday, my university sent several lecturers to give trial classes in Pondok Pesantren Sunan Drajat, Paciran, Lamongan. The weather was hot, but did not reduce our courage to meet high school students there. The trial class from Architecture is simply to introduce Elements and Principle of Design, and also to show them about 3D model making. The class did not consume a long time, thus after our heavy lunch, we used the time to visit Tanjung Kodok or literally said as Cape of Frog.
I read about the Frog legend, the story behind why it was so called like that. There is a big stone; its shape is like a frog. According to the legend, it is a story of a couple which couldn’t be together because their parents did not agree and cursed the woman into frog. Then she moved into the beach and lived there. The man searched for and found her. They had a child, but unfortunately the child was not a normal child, but it was a frog, just like the mother. The father of the child disliked it, but the mother continued to find ways to change them into human. Before she could tell the child, she died in the ocean. The frog child waited everyday by the beach and changed into a big stone, which we can see in Tanjung Kodok (read the full story: http://baltyra.com/2009/10/31/legenda-tanjung-kodok/) Don’t know whether the story is true or not, but there are always myths, legends, and many things you can find among traditional people in villages.
The wind blows were as strong as strong as the ocean wave. I had the chance to peek through Tanjung Kodok Beach Resort. The sand beach line is not so long, there are more rocky side by the beach. The beach resort rooms were facing the beach.. with its beautiful view, isn’t it? Being able to go to beach again gave me new energies to work for the rest of this semester. How I love beaches, nature and adventures.. Of course also my job 🙂
