Rapid population growth in the world results to scarcity in resources and even further induces social problems. There is much experience of managing the reproductive health problems by reducing fertility, but it is necessary to invest in health, family planning and education. The Government of Indonesia has introduced Family Planning Program to reduce the Total Fertility Rate and succeed to reduce birth rates.
This study reviews methods and tools of spatial and statistical analytical in Geographical Information Systems (GIS). It also identifies wide range of tools ranging from simple buffer/overlay functions to spatial query functions.
This study also identifies the social and accessibility factor affecting identification of new Family Planning Clinics (FPCs): poverty, education, the number of FPCs, and the available road network. Implementation within GIS of spatial analytical tools is found suitable to locate the targeted area for further implementation of Family Planning Programs.
